Product Description:
The SMP connector is a push-on subminiature RF coaxial connector designed for high-frequency applications up to 40 GHz. Renowned for its compact size and reliable performance, it is ideal for board-to-board connections in various electronic devices, systems, communications, satcom (satellite communication), radar, and other related fields. It saves significant mounting space, enabling high-density board connections. The male plug is available in three configurations: full detent, limited detent (also referred to as semi-detent or half-detent), and smooth bore (including the catcher's mitt type).
Based on specific application requirements, users can select the male plug with the appropriate configuration. When frequency interruption is not a concern, the full detent version is recommended. It offers the maximum connection retention force, as well as superior vibration and impact resistance, making it commonly used for cable connections.
For applications requiring multiple mating cycles, the limited detent (also called semi-detent or half-detent) is suitable. Derived from the smooth bore structure, it provides medium retention force and is widely utilized in PCB assemblies and blind-mating connections.
When assembling a large number of SMP board-to-board connectors, the smooth bore configuration is preferred. It features equal engagement and disengagement forces, while accommodating axial and radial misalignment, making it a common choice for blind-mating applications.
